Job Details

A vital role performed by the Checkout Operator is being the primary contact for customers, assisting them in their shopping experience, operating the register, restocking inventory, keeping the store clean, and completing any other tasks assigned by the Store Manager to optimize store profitability and enhance customer satisfaction while protecting the company's assets.

Duties and Essential Job Functions

  • Provide outstanding customer assistance through proactive greetings and support.
  • Use the cash register and scanner to create a detailed list of items bought, receive payments, give back accurate change, and package products accordingly.
  • Aid customers with merchandise as requested.
  • Arrange, store, update, and shift products on shelves as per company guidelines.
  • Design and sustain merchandise arrangements.
  • Keep the store tidy and organized by handling responsibilities like removing rubbish, dusting furniture, scrubbing floors, and tidying restrooms and receiving spaces.
  • Assist in the formation of sidewalk exhibitions.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Skilled in building relationships and delivering messages verbally.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and measures.
  • Skilled in reading and executing planograms and merchandise presentation instructions.
  • Familiarity with essential cash management routines and math capabilities.
  • Competency in operating a cash register with ease.
  • Competence in arranging stock in an efficient manner.

Work Experience and Education

  • A high school diploma or similar certification is preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Walking and standing on a regular basis.
  • Repeatedly performing bending, stooping, and kneeling actions when operating the register, organizing products, and handling incoming shipments.
  • Skill in the movement of rolltainers for restocking through pushing and pulling actions.
  • Repetitive utilization of items including handheld scanners, price tags, box openers, product containers, two-wheel carts, U-boats, and rolltainers is part of the job responsibilities.
  • Commonly engaging in lifting tasks that involve weights of 40 pounds or below, with occasional lifting of objects up to 55 pounds.
  • Periodically climbing with the assistance of a step ladder to heights of up to six feet.
  • Dynamic setting with a moderate amount of noise.
  • Intermittent exposure to outdoor climatic conditions.
