General Summary:
Responsible for managing all store employees and overseeing effective planning and execution of store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, selling, staffing, and support.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
Recruit, select, train, and retain qualified employees, ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws and company policies.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide counseling, and manage employee advancement and pay recommendations.
Regularly communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations; coordinate meetings promoting safety and security.
Ensure proper staffing and oversee store opening and closing procedures (minimum twice weekly personally opening and closing).
Analyze operating statements to identify trends in sales, profitability, expenses, shrinkage, and errors.
Manage ordering to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal strategies, and inventory management weekly.
Facilitate efficient staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise following company processes.
Ensure merchandise presentation aligns with company standards, including proper use of fixtures, pricing, and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory control, damage reduction, markdown tracking, and documentation.
Oversee cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash procedures to ensure financial integrity.
Lead customer service efforts and maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
Ensure store is equipped with necessary tools to complete tasks efficiently.
Enforce compliance with company policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
Knowledge of cash handling, cashier accountability, and deposit controls.
Experience with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
Strong understanding of inventory management and merchandising.
Effective oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Skilled in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices compliant with legal and internal policies.
Knowledge of facility, cash, and safety control policies (e.g., store keys, SAFE program).
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Problem-solving abilities for varied, less standardized situations.
Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred in certain locations.
Work Experience and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
At least one year of retail management experience preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling.
Handling merchandise and equipment such as scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, dollies, and carts.
Frequent lifting up to 40 pounds, occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.
Occasional ladder climbing.
Driving own transportation for bank deposits and meetings.
Fast-paced environment with moderate noise.
Occasional exposure to outdoor weather.
