Job Details

The Sales Associate serves as a primary point of contact for customers. Responsibilities include assisting customers with finding and purchasing merchandise, operating the cash register, stocking and recovering merchandise, cleaning the store, and performing other tasks assigned by the Store Manager to maximize store profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets.

Duties and Essential Job Functions

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers.

• Operate the cash register and scanner to itemize purchases, collect payments, make change, and bag merchandise.

• Assist customers with merchandise as needed.

• Unpack, stock, restock, and rotate merchandise on shelves following company guidelines.

• Build and maintain merchandise displays.

• Clean and maintain the store, including trash removal, dusting, mopping floors, and cleaning restrooms and receiving areas.

• Assist in setting up sidewalk displays.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.

• Understanding of safety policies and practices.

• Ability to read and follow planograms and merchandise presentation guides.

• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures and mathematical skills.

• Ability to operate a cash register effectively.

• Ability to stock merchandise efficiently.

Work Experience and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Working Conditions

• Frequent walking and standing.

• Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling while running the checkout station, stocking merchandise, and unloading trucks.

• Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking.

• Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, U-boats (six-wheel carts), and rolltainers.

• Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.

• Occasional climbing using a step ladder up to six feet high.

• Fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels.

• Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
